Campus Challenge was nice. I think I posted a bit about it already. Learned a lot from the people and from the overall experience itself both related and unrelated to the event. For more details about what i learned you can probably go to flow4him.blogspot.com whenever i get to it.

Edit: the list is without the marking scheme and the super epic road trip plans. those will be left on my actual sheet to preserve its epic contents

Work

So i’ve been working at my co-op for about 2 weeks now, and finally I understand a little bit more about what I do everyday at my monday to friday 9 - 5.

It’s an interesting little small start-up company in the biotech field.  A bunch of researchers at UofT decided that they had a product which others were interested in, and a few of them decided to break off from the university and create a company to develop and sell this product.  A few people being Actually a “few” or 2.

So I have 2 other full time co-workers in this little company.  Theres 1 product manager which deals with the customers and the managing and selling of the product.  Another one is the machinst who goes about building the product in the little machine shop of his ( think grade 7  & 8 metal and wood shops? ).  The main product which we develop or which i’m currently working on, involves a product which analyzes the thermal stability of proteins.

Working in my first software development job, i’m actually enjoying having complete control of the this entire aspect of the project by myself.

Now working once again is a new thing for me.  9-5s are more hours then what school takes, but then the nights are completely free to me, so there's that plus of having no homework.

I can see how its easy to fall into a pattern of working and letting time fly right by. 10 – 20 years of this can seem like a normal routine.  will that be me? All the older people who I speak too, all tell me that job security is an important aspect.  But doesn’t this mean they’ll be staying in the same company for a long time? I just don’t want to fall into a cycle for that long.  We’ll see where I end up in 10 years.

I’ve also turned 20 last month, I don’t beleive i’ve posted since then either.  But that whole new “2”s digit infront makes me take a step back and think about where my life is heading.  I haven’t had any major epipanies or anything but its just a reminder that everyone should take a step back in their lives sometimes just to think about where their lives are headed.

The 12’oclock bug ALWAYS hits.

Like most days, i’ve attempted to post much earlier in the day, and my posting speed is at a slow-moderate pace.  It usually culminates abruptly with it becoming too late and time for bed, and the pressure and race to finish posting begins.

Just Hoping to be cured for next time….

off ice al

Disclaimer: It’s a whole post about a girl. I know how everyone loves disclaimers.

Hey guys, I didn’t post in a while. I was kinda hoping that someone would post, but I guess not.

Pretty exhausted from campus challenge. I was away for the whole Victoria Day weekend just getting to know other christians from other campus fellowships.

A few things happened from my last post to now. I can’t do a lot of it much justice as it has been a while, but we will see how good my posting skills are. I will devote this whole post to one thing and my subsequent post for the rest.

May 11:
Dragged drakonen out with me to do some shopping.  My mom got laid off this day, so I had the car for the whole afternoon. (She’s doing ok). I went to the bank to take out some money and then I went to shop for a red rose and a box of chocolates. Found the flowers, but didn’t buy them because I wanted to keep them fresh. Went to STC to buy a box of chocolates. Got exhausted after driving around so that was that.

May 12 Part 1:
This was a pretty full day. Started with a Campus Challenge worship practice from 9a.m. to 12p.m. Then Jess and I went to celebrate a friend’s birthday at Sushi Bong. After everything was done, she went home and took a nap while I had to drive off once again to get the missing flower. Bought the flower and chose to go to STC again, but this time to buy a shirt for a date the same evening. I failed to buy a shirt for like an hour so I just went home and took a 1 minute nap. Then I was off to Jess’s house.

Intermission: brief background
This background information won’t do her justice either, but she knows she’s awesome so whatever. I met Jess Ngan at the first coffee house of the year at Western’s ACF (asian christian fellowship). I found that she was pretty open and friendly and I enjoyed her company that day (and still do). Didn’t really know her too well except for the short talks here and there either during fellowship (though i don’t really remember those talks) or during bio-psych or the jamming sessions we would have every so often. When she shared something that she had kept secret for a while, it took a lot of guts to do something like that. My overall impression was that she was a strong woman who’s honest and most importantly loves God. I was impressed, but didn’t think much of it as I was on my own journey of growth that year. However, when it came down to it and a question of “who am i interested in?” was placed on me, my answer was her. Don’t mean for this to sound very cheese or anything, just if i had to pick anyone… I thought of Jess. It didn’t mean I would make a move because I wasn’t ready and I didn’t know her that well still.

May 12 part 2:
Driving on the highway northbound at 5:50ish was not the best plan. Traffic was pretty bad and the fact that I was tired did not help the traffic go by any faster. Once I arrived, I gave her the flowers and chocolates. I was suppose to give a relatively short speech at her door asking her out, but I chickened out at that point. So I just drove her to Milliken Park where we took pictures. I was still trying to work up the courage to do the speech and ask her out so it was a while until i actually sat her down and attempted my cheese speech. A speech that would’ve taken 1 minute to get through took probably around an hour coz we kept laughing at my cheesy lines (+ they were true, not just lines). By the time i asked her, it was pretty dark. So we went to Swiss Chalet where I used to work and ate dinner there. Afterwards I slowly drove her home making stops at our respective church parking lots talking. Eventually got her home and sat by her front door because I was just that tired. Talked for a while and asked her to be my girlfriend shortly followed by her parents coming back to the house and me saying bye.

Blasted the radio on the way back so I wouldn’t fall asleep. But yes, this was my first date with Jess. Hopefully she enjoyed my very tired self =P

Just announcing this more publically because I found that hiding it this weekend was just very hard. I believe we both found it frustrating not to act like a couple because we didn’t want to disrupt the already established team chemistry of the worship team. Probably would’ve been easier to tell them, but I didn’t wanna just bring it up and have awkwardness… I suck like that haha.

That is basically it. Thanks for reading.

So Tired…[edit: I will miss you Scrubs!!!]

I should not be sleeping for 5 hours during the summer when I sleep for more during school. Though this is kinda my fault for sleeping late.

Pretty exhausted from everything. Had an interview today with the people above the director position. I knew them from last year so it was ok, I didn’t feel as stressed as I have with my many other talks with other people. Whenever I have a seriousish talk with people, either my face, or my hands get numb… and sometimes both. Maybe it’s just a lack of sugar… or healthy food in my system.
Anyways, they just asked me a few questions… though it seemed like a lot. The interview was different that last years i think. They didn’t ask me anything situational based like “what would you do if you lost a kid at the science centre?”. They instead asked questions like “What do you hope to achieve this summer at daycamp?”. Overall, it went well, they were very nice about everything. I kinda caught myself slouching a few times though… not good. I was tired though…

Slept at 3 in the morning coz that’s when drakonen left my place as he was installing Windows 7 on my laptop. Woke up before 9 for some reason… I don’t know why… not used to that so my eyes were pretty teary for the rest of the day. But yah, lost the songs i bought off of the itunes store… i’m pretty upset. Hopefully there is a way to get them back. Have some of the songs on my ipod shuffle… so i just can’t sync it up with my laptop. Other than that… still have to recover a few programs that I lost. Windows 7 is pretty nice so far… don’t have the energy to personalize it yet. Also had a Pho craving so we went over to pho double eight at bamburgh circle to get some Vietnamese noodles at 11:30pm. Very satisfying. Well worth the gas… and the random impulse excursion was a pretty nice bonus to a fairly semi-epic day. Drakonen also managed to confuse a spider. It looked hilarious! It was just going back and forth from drakonen’s hands (yes… pretty nasty but hilarious) until we figured out the spider was building a web between his two hands.

Had to eat viet noodles at noodle star today though… with my pho craving gone… it was pretty hard to eat a large bowl. Maybe I’ll go back one day when my cravings are back at full blast.

BIG EDIT:!!!!
HOW CAN I FORGET? SO CRAZY THAT THIS WILL BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS. JUST FINISHED WATCHING THE LAST EPISODE OF SCRUBS. THOUGH I WATCHED IT IN TWO SEPARATE PARTS AS MEGAVIDEO DID THE 72 MINUTES THING ON ME. I WAS PRETTY ANGRY. SO MAYBE I WILL WATCH IT ANOTHER TIME THROUGH THE WHOLE ENTIRE EPISODE. IT’S USUALLY 20 MINUTES BUT THIS ONE WAS 40 AS IT WAS THE SEASON FINALE. IT WAS A BITTERSWEET ENDING. I’M GLAD IT ENDED AS THE SEASONS 5-7 WEREN’T THAT GREAT. THE 8TH SEASON WAS AMAZING IN MY OPINION! A MIXTURE OF COMEDY AND SERIOUS LIFE LESSONS. IF ONLY ALL THE SEASONS WERE LIKE THIS. I think that the fact that they now knew that the season would be over, the writers actually had to think of what to do and try hard to make it awesome. Lesson: Have a goal and deadline, you will cherish everything much more than going endlessly without a finish line in sight.

Scrubs… you will be dearly missed. The show has brought me so much joy during my 1st year at Western… and it will always remain a part of me. I would take everyone down memory lane but it would make for a substantially longer post so this is good for now. =( Bye Scrubs.

I tried not to post/guitar week

Really? No posts by other people other than M&M’s? Really? Fine m&m’s you have my props

Don’t want to post long. Basically, guitaring all week… fun but tiring =P What is to become of my fingers? find out in the next post… I would explain everything in more detail but I’m not in the best state to do that. 2 in the morning isn’t the best time for anything.
With no further details:

Campus Challenge Worship Practice: Thrusday to Saturday 11am-7pm
Genesis Fellowship (Church fellowship for university students): 7pm-8pm? maybe…
Sunday Service (mothers day) Worship Practice: Wednesday 7pm-10pm (just finished)
Sunday Service: Sunday 8:15am-10amish?

Many hours pressing down steel strings. mmm…. very nice.

Hungry Hungry Hippo

Echo Domination anyone? Too bad it had to come to an end. I'm sure echoes is getting all teary by this post already. =]

Nothing too exciting in my life, I still have one more exam so I will keep this short. Typing at 5am in the morning might not be too healthy, but I have mutiple urges to eat nowadays. I already devoured my cut in half delissio pizza. Oh my, was it just awesome!

Switching to my main topic, since you guys know I am going back to my home town in china during this summer and going along the food theme, I wasted alot of time googling up my favourite food in China since when I ate it as a little kid.

I want to share some stuff with you guys.
The first thing is STINK TOFU :D

YUMMMM YUMMM!

Second thing: "Hot Dry noodle" or 热干面

They have instant noodle version of these, I might bring some back.

After you mix the sauce it looks like:

That's all for now. I will be adding more later, hopefully I can take lots of pictures and do some vblogging during my trip there :D

Signing out...

Update April 30&1

So moved out of my place north of campus and moved to my new place south of campus. It was tiring with a big of rain but it was done. I left my slippers there… I will see if i can still get it another time.

Other than that I’m back in Toronto with a lot of stuff to unpack. Throwing clothes out that I won’t be wearing anymore coz I don’t have enough room for my london clothing (I just backspaced like 3 times with the intention of capitalizing “london” but just went “whtever”)

I don’t wanna do job stuff… I just feel like relaxing but I know I can’t. Plans for the summer? Nimalan can post the list… as he says he will post on saturday… we will see whether he goes through with it.

blechgh? I just feel very blah… maybe it’s coz it’s almost 3a.m.

Oh yah… having that extra screen is actually pretty nice. Yay split screen. So much extra space… mmmm…
